DPAE: compulsory recruitment formalities | MIA Assurances

Formerly known as the Déclaration Unique d’Embauche (DUE) or Single Declaration of Employment, the Déclaration Préalable à l’Embauche (DPAE) or Pre-employment Declaration is one of the compulsory formalities to be completed before taking on any employees. Here are the practical details of this procedure!

WHAT IS THE DPAE FOR?

The Déclaration unique d’embauche (single declaration of employment) enables you to register your future employee with URSSAF:
– For your first hire,
– Register as an employer with the general Social Security scheme and the unemployment insurance scheme,
– Enroll in an occupational health service,
– Register your employee with the health insurance fund, Caisse Primaire d’Assurance Maladie so that they can receive French Social Security benefits
• Give your employee access to all their rights under French labor law
• Request a medical examination for your employee
• Return your Annual Social Data Declaration (Déclaration Annuelle des Données or DADS)

IN PRACTICAL TERMS, HOW DO YOU SEND A DPAE?

Your declaration must be sent before hiring and at the earliest 8 days before the foreseeable date of hire. The declaration is returned from the website Net-Entreprises either using an online form or through your payroll software.
5 working days after filing your DPAE, you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt which, unless you open a dispute within 2 days, will become proof of declaration.

WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A DPAE?

Your DPAE must include the following information:
• Company name and address • APE code
• SIRET number or the identification number issued by your business formalities center (Numéro de liasse) if your company is in the process of being registered
• Details of the health service you have chosen
• Last name/first name, gender, date and place of birth and Social Security number of your employee
• Date and time of hire
• Type and duration of the contract and trial period for permanent contracts and fixed-term contracts longer than 6 months
